Legacy Trees along Escalante River

The legacy tree project was initiated in 2014 to survey and characterized the legacy trees (primarily cottonwoods, Goodding’s willow, and box elder) growing on the terraces along the Escalante River. Melissa McMaster was responsible for implementing the pilot project and refining the data collection protocols. Surveys were completed in 2015 and 2016 within Glen Canyon National Recreation Area along the Escalante River:
